My name is Lo Faber. I live in New Orleans where I am Assistant Professor of History and Music Industry Studies at Loyola University New Orleans.

I started Crescent City Confidential while completing my Ph. D. at Princeton University. It was a self-motivating, discipline tool, designed to keep me productive, writing a certain number of words per day, getting research tasks accomplished, monitoring my progress. Eventually that Ph. D. dissertation was finished, and I revised it and recreated it as a book: Building the Land of Dreams: New Orleans and the Transformation of Early America, which will be published in October 2015 by Princeton University Press.

Meanwhile, CCC turned into a sort of all-purpose space for me to occasionally blog about history, current events, or my life. Mostly it was just for myself, though sometimes I would send selected people links to things I’d written here. In theory anyone is welcome, in practice not that many people know about it.

My main website is lofaber.com.

All the opinions expressed on this site are my own.
