Day Log: 5-13-09

  • 3 more hours in the Livingston Papers (no Lynne Cheney today). Finished Box 82 (Wilkinson Affair), moved quickly through Box 83 (legal files A-C) and started Box 84 (more Legal files) which contains an interesting letter about yellow fever from EL to the directors of the New Orleans Charity Hospital.
  • Continued Kukla’s A Wilderness So Immense.
  • Went through the Index to the Gallatin Papers that Elaine Pascu gave me and compiled my own shorter version, of the topics that interest me (still 16 pages worth at 8-point type).
  • Spent 3 hours reading the Gallatin papers microfilms, and making photocopies, mostly about the events of 1803 and Livingston’s famous “defalcation” and resignation from the posts of District Attorney and Mayor of New York City.
